Adji Dieye's artistic exploration centers on examining representations to comprehend the construction of national epistemologies. Delving into the socio-political structures shaping our globalized world, Dieye observes how images of self-determination and development materialize in the public sphere, particularly in formerly colonized regions. In her practice, the artist hits the pause button to critically examine the potentially conflicting elements, shortcomings, and subsequent achievements essential in the process of forging a renewed national self-identity within public spaces and national Institutions. Through the utilization of archival materials, architecture, and advertising, Dieye challenges the correlation between our ontological understanding and the inherent paradoxes in crafting a national narrative of progress.
