circular, the lid decorated with a micromosaic plaque of an allegory of love including the chariot of Venus and two turtle doves connected with a swirling red ribbon, one perched on a column on green ground, against a dark background, within white and red border, gold frame and mounts, the body of the box carved in mossy marble, apparently unmarked
