100% Pinot Noir from two plots of ungrafted vines next door to the House in Aÿ. 4g/l dosage. In 2019, the golden colour leads to an intense perfume with terrific, almost roasted aromas of candied nuts. On the palate, so velvety, 'sweet' (in spite of the low dosage, but this is the Vieilles Vignes character) and rich, with tarte tatin tastes at the end. I tend to drink VVF in relative youth as it shows itself earlier than Grande Année. Hurry, hurry, as only 1,416 bottles were made and who knows how this essence from the past can continue to be made, given the changing climatic and interlinked scenarios ahead. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
