Description
[Apollo 8]
Saturn V Ready for Launch
Large color photograph, 16 x 20 inches, SIGNED by Commander FRANK BORMAN and Command Module Pilot JAMES LOVELL in silver ink: "Frank Borman / Apollo 8 CDR; James Lovell / Apollo 8 CMP"
Apollo 8 was the first crewed launch of a Saturn V rocket. While previous missions had used launch vehicles designed to reach low Earth orbit, the Saturn V was designed to enable missions to reach the Moon; to this day, the Saturn V remains the only launch vehicle to carry humans beyond low Earth orbit.
