This impressive shipbuilders model of a Steel Screw Steamer was designed by Joseph Isherwood and built by Short Brothers, Sunderland and launched as the SS Arcwear in 1934. Isherwood desired to create a vessel with increase cargo capacity, increase speed and reduce fuel consumption, and this he succeeded, but was it was noted that she was not good in heavy weather. Two years later, under the new ownership of Norwich Steamship Company she was renamed the SS Lord Cochrane, she was renamed at various times under different ownerships. She was called in 1950 Freiden, in 1958 Martha, in 1964 Boston and lastly in 1966 Helene. She was broken up in Durban, South Africa in 1968.
