Description

the gilt-bronze mounts by the Leuchtenberg Bronze Factory, the wooden frame veneered throughout with malachite on copper , the oval-form back with elongated C-scroll mounts interspersed with foliate detail and sprigs of flowers to the top, bottom and the sides, the armrests and legs with rococo-style foliate mounts incorporating bell-flowers, with later green velvet upholstery to the back, seat and armrests


104cm. high, 71cm. wide, circa 61cm. deep


This lot will be on view in our New Bond Street galleries on 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 15th, 16th and 17th January 2024.

Produced almost certainly for the Great Exhibition in London in 1851, also shown at the Winter Garden of the Demidoff Palace in St Petersburg before sent to London;
