This painting, executed on a Neapolitan canvas and stretcher, replicates an engraving by William Joyce (1809–1874) reproduced in Ernest Breton's (1812–1875) Monuments de tous les peuples : décrits et dessinés d'après les documents les plus modernes, first published in Bruxelles 1843.1 Breton's work was translated into Italian in 1844.
