This cupboard is deeply influenced by early 18th century examples, but also displays typical nineteenth-century creativity. Although unsigned, similar Louis XIV influence and gilt-bronze mounts can be seen on the work of Paris cabinet-makers including Hippolyte-Edme Pretot (1812-1855), Louis-Alexandre Bellangé (1797-1861) and Monbro fils ainé (Georges-Alphonse-Bonifacio Monbro, 1807-1884)
