Kattingeri Krishna Hebbar and Pakhal Tirumal Reddy studied together at the Sir J J School of Fine Arts in Bombay in the 1930s and became lifelong friends. They were both awarded fellowships at the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, in 1976 and 1980 respectively, an honor marking a lifetime achievement in the visual arts.
