Zizipho Poswa, originally from a design background, started their practice with a pottery studio focused on functional objects but has since expanded into unique, expressive works considered art. Her practice often reflects Xhosa culture, drawing inspiration from patterns, rituals, and ancestral traditions. This piece is part of a series inspired by hairstyles and head shapes.

“I’m an artist, a businesswoman, a breadwinner, a mother, daughter, sister, and survivor. My inspiration comes from my culture and the path I've walked as a woman. My work celebrates my heritage and the strength of African women,” says Poswa (Wallpaper, May 2021).
