The Della Robbia family of sculptors were renowned across Renaissance Italy for their glazed terracotta works, striking for their saturated cerulean blue paired with a bright white color.


The current work undoubtedly took its inspiration from Andrea Della Robbia's reliefs featuring the Mother and Child's tender embrace.
