with a label to the interior inscribed BAER 14-6

The casket features intricate marquetery for backgammon on the lid, and chess or chequers on the base.
The whole piece is decorated alla certosina, a geometric design scheme named after the Carthusian Certosina di Pavia and made famous by the workshop of Baldassare Ubriachi (also known as Embriachi). A very similar games box can be found in the collection of the Notre-Dame cathedral at Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges.

Le coffret présente une marqueterie complexe avec un jeu de backgammon sur le couvercle et un plateau à damiers pour les échecs au revers.
L'ensemble de la pièce est décoré à la certosina, un motif géométrique nommé d'après la chartreuse Certosina de Pavie et rendu célèbre par l'atelier de Baldassare Ubriachi (également connu sous le nom d'Embriachi).
