This life-size sculpture relates stylistically to Jerôme Dusquesnoy's model of Christ on the Cross in the Beguine church of Sint-Alexius and Catharina in Mechelen, and to his, now destroyed, Dead Christ made for the Sint-Wivina Abbey in Groot-Bijgaarden in Belgium.
