Circle of Pietro da Cortona

This work replicates a portion of Pietro da Cortona's fresco that fills the cupola of the Church of Santa Maria in Vallicella, Rome. Between 1647 and 1651 the artist produced the grand ceiling decoration, which depicts the dove of the Holy Spirit surrounded by concentric circles of angels, saints, and Old Testament figures. In this portion, one can discern Noah holding a wooden arc, among other Prophets and Biblical characters.
