The Artist's Estate, and thence by family descent to the present owner

My father painted the Arrest of Hero whilst serving with the RAF in 1945. It captures the arrest of the Sicilian bandit Salvatore Giuliano (1922-1950). While the allies were pushing the Nazis out of Southern Italy, Giuliano became a modern-day Robin Hood figure - celebrated across Southern Italy for stealing from the rich to support the starving poor.
