Tudor launched in 1926 with a distinct objective: crafting reliable timepieces at a more accessible price range compared to its prestigious sibling, Rolex. In 1954, the first Tudor Oyster-Prince Submariner, reference 7922, made its debut, bearing a striking resemblance to Rolex models 6200, 6204, and 6205 introduced just months earlier.

The present lot is the brand's most iconic Submariner iteration, the reference 7928, which debuted in 1959 and remained in production for nearly a decade. Notable enhancements were made to the reference 7928, including the addition of crown guards and an increased case diameter to 39 mm. Similar to its Rolex counterparts, the 7928 underwent a few iterations in its crown guard design, transitioning from square to pointed guards, culminating in the rounded guards seen on this variant. Furthermore, there were various dial configurations, making this reference the most diverse model in the Tudor submariner lineup.
