While most watches are signed ‘Swiss Made’, those bearing the Voutilainen name are signed ‘Hand Made’. Such is the signature of Kari Voutilainen, an independent watchmaker who is celebrated for his in-house crafted movements, cases, and intricate guilloché dials. His timepieces, characterized by meticulous hand finishing, exemplify his commitment to manual craftsmanship and artistry.
The present example, a piece unique decimal repeater, traces its origins back to the early 2000s and is a true feat of watchmaking prowess. Following in the steps of Breguet, who created the first decimal repeater nearly 150 years ago, as with many of his creations, this was a blank-slate movement designed from the ground up and has become one of his most sought-after complications by collectors. The present example in 18K white gold is further distinguished by a power reserve indicator that has been elegantly guilloched into the dial. His signature handset contrasts beautifully against the silver dial, and the Vingt-8 case is deployed in an elegant 39.5mm size.
Complete with its Certificate of Origin and Cédric Vichard presentation box, this is a feast for the eyes and ears by a giant of independent watchmaking.
