Audemars Piguet

Launched in 1978, the Audemars Piguet Quantième Perpétuel became the world’s thinnest automatic perpetual calendar. Released during the Quartz Crisis, when traditional watchmaking was under threat, this watch showcased the resilience of classic craftsmanship.

One of the earliest models, reference 5548, is distinguished by its “Swiss” signature at the bottom of the dial, marking it as an original production piece. In late 1984, this model was updated to reference 25548, which stayed in production until 1991 as part of the "C series."

Production records indicate that a total of 2,183 pieces were made of the 5548/25548 models. Yellow gold was the most common case material, with 2,070 pieces produced, followed by 80 in white gold, 32 in platinum, 4 in steel, and just 1 in pink gold.

The reference 5548 was the first to use the ultra-thin automatic caliber 2120/2800, based on Jaeger-LeCoultre’s renowned JLC 920 movement. The reference 25548 also used this caliber. Originally developed by Jaeger-LeCoultre in 1967 with support from Audemars Piguet, this movement has been used by prestigious brands such as Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, and Vacheron Constantin.

Jacqueline Dimier, the creative force behind the original 5548 Quantième Perpétuel, made this model her canvas, creating a stunning range of variations.

The reference 25548PT is especially rare as a platinum model. Manufactured in November 1985, it was delivered to one of Belgium’s largest family-owned retailers, established in 1943. This particular piece has remained in the store since its arrival, resulting in exceptional preservation and condition.

It underwent a full service in March 2024.
