After the brand’s revival at the hands of Jean Claude Biver in 1981, Blancpain was transformed from manufacture mainly focused on rugged instrument watches into a maison of haute horology, cemented by the introduction of their “six masterpieces” collection: a complete calendar moon phase, ultra-thin, perpetual calendar, split-seconds chronograph, flying tourbillon and minute repeater.
Aficionados will recognize the combination of perpetual calendar and chronograph “rattrapante” into one watch as the grand complication featured in historic references such as the Patek Philippe 5004, and will know of the impact and significance a watch of such Calibre represents to a manufacture. Made in 100 examples in 2003, the present watch is Blancpain’s grand complication offering and allows collectors to own a segment of the hallowed space.
