Launched in 1943, the reference 1579 is one of the most distinctive vintage chronographs from Patek Philippe. Released 7 years after the reference 130, the reference 1579 features rectangular chronograph pushers and a very distinctive "spider lugs" design. Collectors have discovered two series for it, the first series with baton indexes and a second series with applied gold square dots. The present example is a part of the second series.
In addition, the watch is double-signed Gübelin and comes accompanied by a Gübelin Extract from the Archives confirming that the watch was sold by the retailer and a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives.
