The reference 1485 was launched in 1940. This reference was only produced in stainless steel, whereas the reference 1486 was the golden version. Those references were the first square waterproof watches produced by Patek Philippe. This reference has seen two series, with a total production of about 200 pieces. The first is equipped with a calibre 10-110 or a 10-105 and the second series is equiped with a calibre 10-200.
The case is assembled thanks to a clever patented mechanism from Taubert, the case maker. The case is split in two pieces, the front and the back, and is held together by sliding strips on the bands.
Enhancing the rarity of this timepiece is the double signature of the Italian retailer Astrua, in Torino. It also comes accompanied by its presentation case and an Extract from the Archives confiming the production in 1941 and its subsequent date of sale on December 6, 1941 and
