To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Sea-Dweller, Rolex unveiled a new model that reintroduced the iconic red text above the depth rating for the model name. This reintroduction paid homage to the original design. The watch also received a notable upgrade in size, featuring a larger case measuring 43mm. This size is only 1mm smaller than the Deepsea model and 3mm larger than the previous version of the Sea-Dweller.
In another first for the Sea-Dweller line, Rolex incorporated a magnifying glass known as the 'Cyclops' above the date window. This feature, which has become synonymous with Rolex watches, allows for enhanced legibility of the date. Its inclusion marked the first time the Cyclops magnifying lens was applied to a Sea-Dweller model, adding a new dimension to the watch's functionality and aesthetics.
