The Patek Philippe reference 5070 was the first chronograph-only wristwatch released by the firm since the 1960s. Introduced in 1998 at Basel with an oversized 42 mm case diameter and a thick, stepped bezel in yellow gold with a black dial. The reference was later released in white and pink gold and finally in platinum. The reference is powered by the calibre 27-70, based on the Lemania 2310 – significantly modified by Patek Philippe. The present watch has been preserved in excellent condition and the case now exhibits a lovely patina.
