Patek Philippe

The Nautilus reference 3712 was introduced in 2005 and had a very short production run. It is believed to have been made only for about eight months and therefore the overall production output is rather low too with an estimate of 1700 pieces having been sold. At the time of production it was the most complicated Nautilus with its inclusion of moon phases, power-reserve indication and subsidiary seconds. The way those indications and apertures are placed on the dial is particular, and seems slightly off at first glance, giving the watch a special touch.

The 3712 was soon replaced by the similar reference 5712 in 2006, which was introduced to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the iconic Nautilus model. The two models can be distinguished by a subtle difference to the dial, namely the very small applied index at 7 o'clock which can be found on the 3712 but not on the 5712.

The present lot is a rare iteration of the already rare reference. Namely, where the power reserve is indicated it has four small red dots as opposed to the three dots that are more commonly found on the 3712. It can therefore be considered the 'second series' of the 3712 and the same four dots were eventually used on the dial of the succeeding reference 5712 that is still being manufactured today. The present watch is in exceptional condition after a complete service at Patek Philippe and is further accompanied by its Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin and presentation box.
