Ressence is known for its innovative approach to mechanical watches, using a patented system called ROCS to display time on individual rotating discs, improving readability. This unique Ressence watch was designed by Raymond Ramsden, who won a competition launched by Ressence and Sotheby's in 2020 to create an interpretation of the brand's Type 1 Slim model. Ramsden's design features a blue colour representing medical staff and key workers, a red hand symbolizing human interaction and hand-washing, and subdials representing the planet, sun, and moon. The watch was auctioned in 2020 by Sotheby's Hong Kong to support COVID-19 research at KU Leuven University in Belgium.
