The reference 5970 is definitely an important piece as it acts as the bridge between vintage and the modern era. Launched in 2004, it was in fact the very first watch designed by the current Patek Philippe president Thierry Stern, who envisioned a watch that bridges between the generation of his father, Philippe Stern and the current generation. Paying homage to the reference 1518 and early reference 2499, the chronograph pushers were squared, departing from round pushers which were used in reference 3970. It is also the last generation with the Lemania based movement before fully switched to in house. Therefore, despite the relatively young age of this collection, it is often regarded as the most collectible modern grand complications in the modern era.
