Between 1890 and 1900, in parallel with his creations of jewelry, René Lalique also designed some handles of cane. The rare pieces we know and the drawings of the artist referenced reveal a fantasmagorical ornamental repertoire composed of dragons, silenes, naiads or chimeras. Our cane handle represents a fantastic hybrid creature in silver and champlevés enamels, it is an important and perfect example of the imaginary symbolist, and surrealist before the hour, of René Lalique.
