The present rock crystal snuff bottle is painted with two beautifully rendered scenes. The face of the bottle features a peaceful river with a fisherman on a sampan. The figure sits calmly between a pair of pine trees and a rocky mountainscape. On the reverse, a horse is illustrated beneath a pine tree with mountains in the backdrop. The imagery of a horse under a tree connotes longevity while the horse itself is a symbol for steadfastness.
