Laurent Ferrier perpetuates the outstanding nature of Swiss horology. Ferrier completed training at the Geneva Watchmaking school, and spent nearly four decades with one of the most prestigious manufacturers, Patek Philippe. After his final role as Patek Philippe's Creative Director, Ferrier founded his own brand dedicated to his vision of exceptional watchmaking.
In 2023, Laurent Ferrier announced the latest edition of the Serie Atelier, dedicated this time to his passion for motor racing.
It is in line with the Sport Auto that was released the previous year and with the Grand Sport Tourbillon that saw light in 2019.
This very limited edition pays tribute to one of the most important events in Ferrier's life: the Le Mans that he raced with François Servanin and François Trisconi.
They used the Porsche 935, which is the racing version of the 911 Turbo, that had the number 40, hence the forty pieces made for this edition.
The colour scheme of the watch, and especially the dial that is green, purple and yellow, similarly to the Porsche he drove.
The overall design reminds the aerodynamic profile of racing cars. The main case is rounded, while the bezel could be described as a soft square.
The watch is made in grade 5 titanium and each surface is finished in a different way, testifying the attention paid to every detail of the watch.
The LF270.01 calibre has a Swiss pallet escapement and is powered by a platinum micro-rotor that has been placed between the main plate and the rotor bridge for a maximized stability and winding power.
It is finished to the highest standards, requiring over 139 manual operations, with horizontal satin-brushed and ruthenium-treated bridges to elevate the sport character of this exceptional watch.
Naturally, the movement is fully designed, decorated, assembled and adjusted in-house.
Such a masterpiece was highly anticipated and the limited edition was instantly sold out.
With exceptional innovation and great popularity for independent watch brands, the present lot is the perfect chance to obtain one of the finest time-only watches in the world.
