The Rolex Day-date stands as one of the brand’s most luxurious wristwatches.

The iconic model was originally released in 1956 as the first waterproof and chronometer-certified automatic wristwatch to display the date at 3 o’clock and the day of the week in full letters at 12 o'clock. Considered as an everyday dress watch and worn by the most influential men and women of the century, the Day-date was only available in precious metals, including yellow, rose and white gold as well as platinum.

In 2015, Rolex released a contemporary adaptation of the model, called Day Date 40, referring to its increased diameter. Rolex managed to preserve the distinguished design of the original version while creating a new timepiece that would appeal to a new audience. The watch met an immediate success thanks to its new diameter as well as its stunning dials perfectly complementing the famous Oyster case and President bracelet.

At the Watches&Wonders 2022 edition, Rolex created the surprise by introducing a new Day Date 40 in platinum with a platinum fluted bezel, under the reference 228236.

It was a true revolution for the market as the platinum Day Date had only been produced with a smooth bezel.

To immediately recognize a piece crafted in the noblest metal, Rolex kept the signature iced-blue colour of the dial.

These models are extremely rare as they are produced in much smaller quantities than their gold counterparts as well as because their retail price is nearly the double of the gold version.

This particular example is further distinguished by its baguette-set indexes further elevating the preciousness of the piece.

It is presented in superb condition, still retaining some of its protective stickers and is accompanied by its accessories.
