The Rolex Day-Date reference 18039 was introduced in 1977 and marked the introduction of several key features, such as the sapphire crystal.

Furthermore, it was equipped with the 3055 with quick-set function for the date.

These practical elements are nicely balanced with the vintage appearance of the watch.

This blend has made the Day Date produced at the time particularly appreciated by collectors. The reference 18039, with its more understated case and bracelet and produced in much fewer quantity, is even more favoured by aficionados.

A couple of years ago, the previous owner requested to fit the piece with a blue Jubilee dial. As it was not available in stock with the standard (automatic) Day Date version, it was equipped with an Oysterquartz designation, making it highly unusual.
