Since its conception in 1953, the Explorer family has been one of the most cherished and admired range within the family of Rolex sport watches. In 1955, Rolex launched the present reference 6610 featuring the now famous caliber 1030 which allowed for a slimmer case design in comparison to previous bubble back profiles.
The present watch was produced in 1956 and features a charming dial variation including the 'Officially Certified Chronometer' signature, which became a defining feature in later Explorer references such as the 1016, and more interestingly the dial also features a red depth rating, creating a mesmerising contrast against the black dial and the Arabic numerals.
