Every so often, watch brands take sponsorship to the next level and create unique pieces to commemorate certain events. This was seen firsthand when IWC released a Tribeca Film Festival Portuguese limited edition wristwatch in 2013. For the following three years, IWC and the Tribeca Film Festival released annual limited editions varying in size and complication, yet all bearing reddish-maroon subdials. Most years, IWC also auctioned off a piece unique for charity that was usually composed with a higher complication and made from a precious metal.
The current lot is a 2016 release limited to 50 pieces in total. Housed in a 44 mm case, the automatic annual calendar wristwatch features a 7 day power reserve indication.
