Produced right around 1973/ 74, the Breitling 8806 Navitimer Chrono-Matic was originally designed as a pilots watch.

Over the years, the layout has seen numerous enhancements and changes compared to previous Navitimers. The 8806 is known for its modified crown at the 9 o’clock mark, rather than at 3 o’clock, and a date window at the 6 o’clock mark instead of a running seconds subdial. This dial configuration was known as the “Big Eyes”, due to the positioning and contrast of the white subdials at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions against the black perimeter. The ref. 8806 is well balanced on both the case and dial and certainly sought after by collectors.

In addition, the subtle difference between this reference and other 8806s is the fact that most watches have a “Twin Jet” logo beneath the 12 o’clock mark but instead this version bears the UAE Armed Forces Coat of Arms in its place. This lot is a fine example of a highly collectible timepiece.
