First launched in 1998, the reference 5059 embodies numerous Patek Philippe distinguishing design and functional features. With the hinged officer’s case and the automatic movement, this 36 millimeter perpetual calendar is both identifiable and classy on the wrist. Another unusual feature is the protruding lug screws that bookend the outside of the lugs on either side.
It is estimated that fewer than 1400 examples were produced across all four precious metal types; yellow, white, rose, and platinum between 1998 and 2006.
Discontinued after only eight years, the reference 5059 is certainly a collectible and highly sought after model. Accompanied with its box and papers, the present lot is no exception.
