The present superbe timepiece belongs to the Collection Privée Cartier Paris (CPCP), which was launched in 1998 and inspired by historic Cartier designs. The calibre 045MC that powers the Tortue Monopoussoir was made by THA (Techniques Horlogères Appliquées) Ebauche founded in 1996, a collaborative movement Manufacture by Vianney Halter, Denis Flageollet and François-Paul Journe, some of the most talented and important watch makers of modern times.
This rare Reference 2714 crafted in white gold (white metal Cartier being the most sought-after ones) has a most attractive dial featuring the elongated and concentric Roman numerals. Additionally, and unlike some other versions of the Monopoussoir, the outer rail-track for the 60 minute and chronograph division perfectly follows the shape of the case, ensuring an harmonious transition and creating a most pleasant visual effect.
The release of a new iteration of the Monopoussoir earlier this year testifies the importance of the model in the history of the Maison and has also re-enforced the collectors attention on the earlier neo-vintage CPCP versions, such as the present lot.
