The Omega Speedmaster is perhaps one of the most important watches of all time, and the 105.003 is a significant part of its storied past.
Produced from 1964 to 1969 and known as the ‘Ed White,’ this reference holds two distinctions: being both the last ‘straight-lug’ Speedmaster and the first watch worn on a spacewalk – or EVA (extra-vehicular activity). Named after Astronaut Edward Higgins White II, who wore this reference on the Gemini IV mission, the 105.003 sealed its place in NASA history decades ago.
Powered by the legendary Omega calibre 321, this reference is of such important to the brand that it was re-issued in 2020 under reference 311.30.40.30.01.001.
The present example is offered in very good and charming overall condition. Its dial with applied logo and long indexes displays character and pleasant patina and the bezel is the famous DoN (Dot over Ninety).
This watch further comes with an extract from the Omega archives which dates the watch to January 1965.
