Introduced at Baselworld 2010, the Reference 5951 stunned the watchmaking industry for being the thinnest perpetual calendar split seconds chronograph ever crafted by Patek Philippe.
Housed in a Art-Deco style cushion-shaped platinum case, the watch is inspired by Patek Philippe wrist chronographs from the 1920s and is a favorite among watch collectors looking for important complications. The dial layout of the watch on the other hand is modern, with innovative positioning of the day and month windows, as well as the leap year and day and night apertures, all inspired by contemporary watchmaking elements. Perhaps the most distinctive feature of the reference 5951 would be its red chronograph hands, propelled by the manual winding chronograph cal. 27-525 allowing the user to track two sets of lap times. The attractive movement can be admired through the sapphire display back, engraved by Patek Philippe’s very own PP seal, certifying the highest quality of watchmaking and accuracy.
The Reference 5951 was discontinued after only 5 years of production with only approximately 150 pieces, making it a very rare and exclusive Patek Philippe grande complication on the market.
Accompanied by its box and certificate, the present example is preserved in very attractive condition.
