In 1935, the Royal Italian Navy tasked Panerai, along with other prestigious watchmakers, with creating a timepiece that could endure extreme conditions while providing accurate timekeeping for the elite frogman commandos of the First Submarine Group Command. This challenge required a design that maintained precision in harsh environments while ensuring exceptional legibility underwater. Panerai met this demand by introducing the Radiomir prototype in 1936, specifically engineered for such rigorous use. Building on this legacy, the Radiomir 1940 3 Days, reference PAM00514, was launched in 2013 as a limited production of 2,500 pieces, featuring the P.3000 manual winding movement, a simple yet elegant testament to Panerai’s enduring craftsmanship.
