Gilian Packard

Gilian Packard (1938-1997) was a renowned British jewelry designer and goldsmith, whose artistic legacy epitomized the vibrant spirit of the 1960s. She often incorporated geodes into her jewellery. Her creative journey began with studies at the Kingston School of Art, followed by the Central School and culminating at the prestigious Royal College of Art. Packard's signature ring designs, described by the esteemed jewelry historian Peter Hinks as "deft, attractive, and wearable," exemplified her mastery of craftsmanship and aesthetics. Notably, she made history as the first woman, in a professional capacity, to become a Freeman of the Goldsmiths' Company, marking her profound impact on the traditionally male-dominated field of goldsmithing.
