Description
Whitman, Walt
Leaves of Grass. Camden, New Jersey: 1876
8vo. With two portraits of the author, the first reproducing the famous frontis image of the 1855 edition; signed title-page detached but present, middle signatures have come loose, one page with chipping to margin. Original half leather over marbled boards; rebacked preserving most of original spine all of original label; edges rubbed, corners a little bumped. Cloth slipcase.
Inscribed by the author on endpaper, "George W Waters from his friend the author."
We can trace a copy of Two Rivulets inscribed in the same manner to Waters in the Charles Romm Collection, sold by the American Art Association in 1921.
The sixth edition of the work, and one of about 600 unnumbered copies.
