According to the Athenaeum from 1894 this work was entered into sale at Phillips in London on 19 June 1894, titled The Two Pearls. Fernand Le Quesne was the son of Parisian sculptor Eugène-Louis and later studied with academic artists Henri Gervex and Albert Maignon.
