of flared drawn trumpet form, with a raised oval cartouche enriched in raised gilding with FR monograms with Prussian Royal crown above as borne by King Frederick the Great flanked by military trophies and flags, the bases of the bowls and the stems with air inclusions, the hexagonal-section stems cut with scale pattern, the underside of foot with a cut starburst

This suite of glasses formed part of a substantial table service created in the early years of the 20th Century during the reign of Emperor Wilhelm II. As it reproduces both the style and the monogram of King Frederick the Great it is thought that it was perhaps made to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the King's birthday, which would have been 24th January, 1912. 112 glasses and a decanter from the table service were included in the Christie's sale in 2002, lots 36-45.
