My worst enemy is a version of myself

I can't even remember.

An echo from a past life,

A shadow in the mirror's depths,

A phantom lurking in my mind's

Most fragile recesses.

It wears my face with a twisted smile,

Eyes hollow, void of hope,

Whispering doubts that linger,

Sowing seeds of hesitation,

Feeding on my fears, insecurities.

It knows my weaknesses immediately,

Exploits every crack in my armor,

Turning triumphs into fleeting moments,

Transforming joy into specters of what once was.

I wrestle with this enemy,

In a never-ending battle of wills,

Trying to reclaim my forgotten strengths,

To banish the haunting specter,

To emerge from the darkness,

Free from the chains of my own making.

But even as I fight,

I know this enemy is a part of me,

A version of myself I can't remember,

Yet can't fully forget,

A reminder of the journey,

Of the struggles,

Of the growth yet to come.
