Kjetil Golid is a generative artist and system developer from Norway whose practice is deeply rooted in his fascination with algorithms and data structures. This intellectual passion ignited his journey into generative art, where he initially used visualization as a method to better understand and represent various algorithms. Over time, these exercises evolved from being precise, "correct" implementations of well-known algorithms to explorations in a more esoteric and conceptual space. In this realm, the underlying structures function not only as technical foundations but also as vehicles for crafting intricate and aesthetically captivating visuals.

Golid's creative process is often sparked by the speculative question, "What would it look like if...?" This inquiry encapsulates the experimental nature of his work, where the fusion of an emerging algorithmic concept with its visual translation leads to outcomes that are as unpredictable as they are mesmerizing. His projects embrace the unknown, allowing the visual results to unfold organically from the interplay between code and creativity.

Committed to the belief that programming is a powerful platform for creative expression, Golid shares his work openly, making much of his code accessible for others to explore and manipulate. Beyond static art, he also creates interactive tools that enable users to generate their own visuals, even without coding expertise. Through this, Golid not only expands the possibilities within generative art but also invites a broader audience to engage with the artistic potential of programming.

"When is something perceived as an orderly system and at what point are we giving up, treating it like chaos? The Iteration series attempts to give nuance to the juxtaposition of structure and disarray. It creates an impression of structure by generating a random layout of blocks and repeating it in two directions. By making the process of repetition imperfect, with a small chance of mutating the initial layout, a feeling of chaos is reintroduced."
