Seated Tibetan gilt-bronze images of Maitreya represent an important aspect of Tibetan Buddhist art and iconography, showcasing the belief in Maitreya as the future Buddha; that of a different kapla (Sanskirt) or eon. Maitreya, known as the 'Buddha of the Future,' is believed to be a bodhisattva who will appear on Earth, achieve complete enlightenment, and teach pure Buddhist dharma. The depiction of Maitreya in Tibetan art is rich in symbolism and is designed to inspire devotion, convey religious teachings, and offer a focus for meditation and prayer.
