thirty-six cabochon oval specimen hardstones each in three numbered trays, one empty, centered by a gold ring with hinged back to allow insertion of a chosen stone, in cardboard slipcase


length 5 ½ in.

14 cm.

Several ringstein-kabinette are listed in Alexis Kugel, Gold, Jasper and Carnelian, Johann Christian Neuber at the Saxon Court, pp. 381-383. A number with turquoise-covered trays are attributed to Neuber, some are unattributed, and a number are made by H. G. Lang of Augsburg.
