The original composition by Domenichino (1581–1641) can be found in the National Gallery of Art, Washington, no. 2000.3.1, having previously sold in these Rooms, 4 June 1987, lot 96. A print after Domenichino's version was engraved by Nicholas Henri Tardieu (1674–1749) in a portrait format.
