The imperial poems on the present screen were composed by the Qianlong Emperor in the 18th year (1753) for a handscroll of flowers by Zou Yigui (1688-1772), as recorded in the Qing Gaozong yuzhi shiwen quanji [Anthology of Imperial Qianlong poems and texts], Yuzhi shi er ji [Imperial poetry, part 2], vol. 40, pp. 13-15. The naturalistically rendered blossoming plants are probably based on a scroll by the court artist. Named alongside Yun Shouping (1633-90) as one of the most talented gongbi flower painters of the 18th century, Zou served the court during the early years of the Qianlong reign, 1729-57.

屏心青白玉製。兩面陰刻蘭花、梅花、長春花、海棠、石竹、紫蝴蝶、山桃、杏花、梨花及金盞花十種花卉，上方題詩，第一首詩前刻「御題鄒一桂花卉十種」。

蘭： 再芳早是傳荊楚，九畹如何只舉春；應為凜秋權讓菊，一般氣味伴幽人。

梅： 鐵榦冰花蓓蕾紅，墨勾不襲補之翁；為文悟得同歸理，喜語難工苦易工。

長春花： 淺深紅暈足精神，婉娩韶光逐月新；豈是女夷偏注意，故教四季總含春。

貼梗海棠： 迥異埀絲影動搖，敷花著榦見豐標；不香亦有饒風韻，金屋何妨貯阿嬌。

石竹： 此花亦被此君名，嫋嫋裳裳且自榮；世上寧無假君子，底須卉裏太分明。

紫蝴蝶： 瓣似金萱色奪朱，亭亭葉幹鬱相扶；春駒飛入如尋侶，名相風流了不殊。

山桃： 剛欣芳蕊輝霞纈，已看殘英貼水來；㸃筆意遲聊靜㑹，一枝似為我重開。

杏： 婀娜烘春千葉纎，粧成世界是華嚴；吳融詩句徐熈畫，靜裏拈來數筆兼。

梨花： 綠雲鬟髻玉粧成，雨後風前最有情；却笑低頭簪帽者，愛花翻汙此花清。

金盞花： 小於玉斝大於錢，好侑流霞玳瑁筵；李白若逢應却置，解酲那及甕頭眠。

鄒一桂，雍正五年進士，乾隆七年至乾隆二 十二年間供職內廷，與惲壽平齊名。能詩善畫，尤擅工筆花卉，所作百科花卉，集成《百花卷》，各題一詩，進呈乾隆帝，深得讚賞，並題寫絕句百首。
