Sigmund Freud
An Autobiographical Study. Authorized translation by James Strachey. London: Hogarth Press and the Institute of Psycho-Analysis, 1935.
FIRST ENGLISH EDITION, SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR ("Sigm. Freud 1938") on the front free endpaper, 8vo, publisher's green cloth, light spotting
Freud's account of his professional development and the birth of psychoanalysis was first published in 1925 under the title Selbstdarstellung. This translation by James Strachey (younger brother of Lytton Strachey and also a member of the Bloomsbury Group) had been published in America in 1927 but was revised for this edition, its first separate appearance in English, which was published by Virginia and Leonard Woolf's Hogarth Press. RARE: WE HAVE NO RECORD OF ANOTHER SIGNED COPY OF THIS BOOK HAVING BEEN SOLD AT AUCTION.
